Job summary

UW Medicine seeks an experienced Inpatient Coder for the Enterprise Records and Health Information division. You will analyze charts and assign ICD-CM/ICD-PCS codes using 3M CAC to determine DRG for inpatient reimbursement, ensuring compliance and accuracy.

Required credentials include RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CPC/CIC or equivalent, plus a high school diploma and 3 years of coding experience. Remote, full-time, days, with SEIU 925 coverage.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and three years of coding experience or equivalent education/experience.
• Certified coding credentials listed in the requirements (RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CCS-P/CPC/CIC/COC/CIRCC/RCC/ROCC).

Responsibilities

• Performs chart analysis and assigns ICD-CM and ICD-PCS codes using 3M CAC to compute DRG assignments for inpatient billing.
• Reviews patient records at admission and discharge to ensure proper CMG assignment and Medicare rehab reimbursement.
• Abstracts data within EPIC and 3M CAC 360 CAC to ensure data integrity and appropriate reimbursement.
• Collaborates with CDI to clarify documentation when needed.
• Maintains four day turnaround times for inpatient coding based on discharge date.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Three years of coding experience or equivalent education/experience

RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CIC, COC, CIRCC, RCC, ROCC certifications
