Qualifications
One to three years of professional coding experience with multiple surgical specialties.
Preferred: experience in coding for neurosurgery, thoracic surgery, and/or gynecologic oncology procedures.
Solid understanding of ICD-9, CPT coding, medical terminology and knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, HMO and commercial insurance plans.
Responsibilities
Review all assigned charge review errors and claim edits for hospital-based services.
Analyze medical documentation to verify primary and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
Perform charge entry and discrepancy resolution.
Train new employees in coding and charge capture.
