Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking an Inpatient Care Management Nurse to ensure proper utilization of health services, assess member needs, and identify plans of care. This role supports collaboration with care teams and compliance while offering remote work within the U.S.

The position requires an RN license, 3+ years of hospital nursing experience, and proficiency with Windows/Excel/Outlook and clinical platforms. A designated home workspace with secure internet is needed.

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted RN license in state of residence.
• 3+ years of clinical nursing experience in a hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Windows, Excel, Outlook and clinical platforms.
• Designated home workspace with secure high-speed internet.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial and concurrent review of inpatient cases using InterQual criteria.
• Discuss cases with facility healthcare professionals to obtain plans of care.
• Collaborate with Medical Directors on utilization management.
• Contribute to progression of care to the most appropriate level.
• Refer complex cases to the Medical Director for further action.
• Consult with internal/external Case Managers and Physicians.
• Identify delays in care and work with MD to resolve.
• Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.
• Facilitate timely discharge planning and information gathering.
• Participate in team meetings and related activities.
• Maintain compliance with Federal, State and accreditation standards.
