Job summary

UnitedHealth Group seeks an Inpatient Care Management Nurse to ensure appropriate utilization of health services. Assess and interpret member needs, identifying solutions to help members live healthier lives.

You’ll join a team culture that supports clinical and business collaboration and remote work within US time zones. You will review inpatient cases, coordinate with facility staff, and support discharge planning while maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license in state of residence.
• 3+ years of clinical nursing experience (Acute Inpatient, SNF/AIR/LTAC, ED, Urgent Care, Doctor's Office, School Nurse).
• Experience in acute, long term care, acute rehabilitation, or skilled nursing facilities.
• 1+ years of utilization review experience with evidence-based guidelines (MCG, InterQual).

Responsibilities

• Perform initial and concurrent review of inpatient cases using evidence-based criteria (MCG/InterQual).
• Discuss cases with facility healthcare professionals to obtain plans of care.
• Collaborate with Medical Directors on utilization management.
• Contribute to care progression discussions with Clinical Services.
• Refer complex cases to the Medical Director or downstream partners.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs in end-to-end case management.
• Facilitate timely care and discharge planning.
• Maintain ongoing team communication and education.
