Job summary

Cyvl, Inc. is hiring a Software Engineer to turn sensor data into a scalable platform used by cities. You will own end-to-end features from cloud pipelines to the web app, and collaborate with product, data ops, and customers to define solutions.

The role supports remote work from San Francisco, CA, or Somerville, MA, with on-site collaboration in Boston-area offices as needed. Senior candidates may lead technical direction.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience (5+ years for senior candidates)
• Strong Python and experience building production backend systems
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), containers (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD
• Comfort owning ambiguous problems end to end and shipping iteratively
• Clear communication with both technical and non-technical teammates

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship production systems across our stack: Python services, cloud data pipelines, APIs, and the Cyvl web platform.
• Own features from idea to production, working directly with product, data operations, and customers to understand the problem first.
• Build the APIs and integrations (Esri ArcGIS, Cartegraph, and more) that put Cyvl data inside the tools governments already use.
• Make our systems faster, cheaper, and more reliable as we scale to more cities, more miles, and more data.
• Use AI coding tools every day to move faster, and help shape how our team builds with them.
