Placements24 seeks a Remote Information Security Specialist to strengthen the client's cybersecurity posture from anywhere in South Africa. You will implement, monitor, and improve security controls to protect systems, networks, and data against evolving threats.

You will conduct vulnerability assessments, coordinate remediation, support incident response, and contribute to security awareness across remote teams, while maintaining documentation and policies for a secure environment.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/Cybersecurity or equivalent experience.
• 2–4 years in information security or related role.
• Solid understanding of network security, cryptography, and access control.
• Experience with security tools (firewalls, antivirus, VPNs, SIEM).
• Remote work ability and strong time-management.
• CompTIA Security+ or similar certs are a plus.
• Must be legally authorized to work in South Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and manage security controls to protect systems, networks, and data against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.
• Monitor security alerts and logs, investigating potential security incidents and recommending appropriate actions.
• Conduct regular vulnerability scans and penetration tests, analyzing results and coordinating remediation efforts.
• Assist in the development and enforcement of information security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Support incident response activities, including investigation, containment, and post-incident analysis.
• Contribute to security awareness training programs for employees.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security is integrated into system design and deployment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 2-4 years of experience in information security, cybersecurity, or a related technical role.
• Solid understanding of security principles, including network security, cryptography, and access control.
• Experience with security tools such as firewalls, antivirus software, VPNs, and SIEM solutions.
• Familiarity with vulnerability assessment tools and methodologies.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work setting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with remote teams.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+) are a plus.
