Job summary

Synergy is seeking a highly experienced information system security engineer to support a USCG project from a home-based role. You will assess security impacts, advise on DoD/DoW and USCG policy, and collaborate with a joint contractor/government team while juggling multiple priorities.

The role requires 8–10 years in DoD cybersecurity, strong enterprise architecture skills, and excellent communication. Preferred: Agile, cloud (AWS/Azure), DevSecOps, and modern software factory experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8–10 years of direct experience in DoD cybersecurity or related skill set.
• Network or enterprise architecture background with hands-on secure architecture experience.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Perform security impact assessments on new/ongoing IA projects and identify impacts to security controls.
• Provide input and recommendations for cybersecurity approaches aligned with DoD/DoW & USCG regulations.
• Participate in CONOP working groups and tech exchanges to integrate security requirements in design and development.
• Help steer developers to avoid integration challenges with on-prem and cloud environments.
