Positron AI specializes in hardware systems for AI inference, delivering performance and efficiency gains over GPU-based systems. The role focuses on building simulation and modeling infrastructure to explore architectures before silicon, combining computer architecture, software engineering, and quantitative analysis.

You will develop analytical performance models, functional and timing simulators, and virtual platforms supporting realistic firmware, runtime, and host workloads.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering skills in C++ or Rust and experience building simulators or performance models.
• Deep understanding of processors, memory hierarchies, interconnects, and data movement effects on performance.
• Experience designing and validating models with fidelity, determinism, and fast execution.
• Strong applied mathematics and quantitative reasoning to turn workloads into models and experiments.
• Ability to integrate complex software systems and build maintainable tools for engineers.
• Clear technical writing documenting assumptions and architecture tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Develop analytical models of inference workloads to evaluate latency, throughput, and bottlenecks.
• Build and extend functional and timing models of accelerator compute, memory, and data movement.
• Integrate accelerator models with virtual platforms and host interface models for realistic workloads.
• Establish reproducible experiments to compare architectures and communicate assumptions.
