Job summary

Church World Service in the United States seeks a Paralegal to support the Immigration Legal Services program. You will gather client information, prepare applications for refugees, asylees, and other immigrants, and assist BIA Accredited Representatives with case management.

The role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organization, and the ability to work independently. Prior non-profit immigration experience and Haitian Creole fluency are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional work experience required.
• Minimum 2 years of paralegal or intern experience in a law office or non-profit legal services environment.
• Experience with asylum seekers, refugees, asylees, and other immigrants preferred.
• Haitian Creole language fluency strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and assist in preparing applications for immigration benefits.
• Provide administrative support to the legal team, including answering calls, scheduling, data entry, and document handling.
• Assist Representatives in case management and follow up with clients and USCIS.
• Maintain accurate client files and case notes; update case status regularly.
• Assist in compiling client packets and ensuring all evidence and documents are attached.
• Help maintain statistics and records for program results.
• Conduct legal research as directed by Representatives.
