Job summary

Church World Service is seeking a qualified attorney to lead its Legal Services Department in the Dallas area. The role supervises staff, oversees immigration-related cases, and ensures high‑quality representation for refugees, asylum seekers, and parolees.

The position emphasizes collaboration, grant writing, data tracking, and ongoing staff training to support local and national advocacy efforts. A JD and bar license are required, with 3–5 years of immigration law experience.

Qualifications

• JD degree required.
• Bar license in good standing in the state of work.
• 3–5 years' experience in immigration law.
• Experience with refugees and asylum representation.

Responsibilities

• Supervises legal work and staff of the Legal Services team.
• Provides core services including legal screenings and Know Your Rights.
• Tracks data, prepares reports, and writes grant renewals.
• Provides in-house training to staff across legal programs.
• Develops pro bono attorney projects for the Legal Services program.
• Represents clients with USCIS/EOIR; handles hearings and motions.
• Negotiates with USCIS officers to resolve client issues.
• Performs legal research and drafts supporting immigration filings.
• Manages client appointments and professional duties.
• Contributes to local and national advocacy and grant development.
• Represents program at meetings and speaking engagements.
• Undertakes other duties as assigned.
