Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in illustration or graphic design.
• OR Bachelor’s Degree in Illustration, Graphic Design, or related field AND 3+ years experience in illustration or graphic design.
• OR Master’s Degree in Illustration, Graphic Design, or related field AND 1+ year(s) experience in illustration or graphic design.
• OR equivalent experience.
• Portfolio showcasing a body of illustration, graphic design, composition, and use of color principles.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Director of Brand Studio to execute on a shared vision for the future of GitHub’s internal and external brand and visual strategy.
• Collaborate with HR, internal communications, and other cross‑functional teams to understand business needs and translate goals into effective illustrations.
• Produce sketches to present concepts to stakeholders and gather feedback to improve your work.
• Identify, advocate for, and own design‑driven projects and initiatives with cross‑team impact.
• Provide regular, direct feedback in design reviews to ensure high‑quality execution and up‑level the team’s output.
• Use and evolve GitHub's design system and brand guidelines for consistency across touchpoints.
• Apply decisions holistically, fitting new patterns into the brand system and product experiences.
• Build a culture of inclusivity by designing for a wide range of perspectives.
• Facilitate collaboration between teams for continuity and a clear customer‑facing vision.
• Be solutions‑oriented, prioritizing progress without sacrificing quality.
• Encourage candidness and trust through transparent decision‑making.
