Job summary

Woolpert seeks a Hydrographic Data Processing Specialist to support the Bathymetric Charting Data Processing Team. Remote work is eligible, with in-office options in San Rafael, CA or Charleston, SC for local or relocatees.

The role focuses on processing multibeam data, side-scan sonar interpretation, feature management, QA/QC, and delivering comprehensive hydrographic products for large marine surveys globally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in surveying/geomatics or related field plus 3 years of experience, or Master’s with 1 year of experience.
• Strong understanding of hydrographic survey principles and geospatial data workflows.
• Experience with industry-standard software packages (QPS Qinsy/Qimera, CARIS, SonarWiz, ArcGIS, Global Mapper).

Responsibilities

• Manage daily imports and processing tasks on multiday projects.
• Process multibeam hydrographic data using QPS Qimera: data cleaning, refraction correction, sound velocity application.
• Perform side scan sonar processing with SonarWiz: mosaicking, target identification, reporting.
• Coordinate feature management in Qimera and CARIS; review acquisition logs for integration.
• Produce daily data packages and delivery packages with required outputs.
