Job summary

Uptalent.io is seeking a Mechanical Engineer/Designer to design HVAC systems for commercial and multifamily buildings. You will model in Revit, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and prepare permit-ready documentation for California-related projects.

The role emphasizes adherence to Title 24, energy codes, and strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD; prior California project experience is highly valued.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of HVAC or mechanical building design experience.
• Experience with commercial and multifamily projects.
• Prior work on California projects and knowledge of Title 24 strongly preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD/AutoCAD MEP.
• Experience performing HVAC load calculations and equipment selection.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with remote U.S.-based teams.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial and multifamily buildings.
• Develop air distribution systems, ductwork, mechanical piping, hydronic systems, and exhaust systems.
• Perform HVAC load calculations, equipment sizing, and system selection.
• Prepare construction documents, plans, schedules, details, and permit packages.
• Model and coordinate mechanical systems using Revit.
• Produce and update drawings in AutoCAD or AutoCAD MEP.
• Coordinate with architectural, structural, electrical, and plumbing disciplines.
• Participate in BIM coordination, clash detection, QA/QC, and design reviews.
• Apply U.S. mechanical, building, and energy codes to project documentation.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders.
