Job summary

Varian Medical Systems is seeking an Interface Analyst to coordinate HL7 interface development between the ARIA database and customer HIS systems (Epic, Cerner, LabCorp). You will work with Varian and customer project managers, IT staff, and vendors to ensure successful interoperability and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of directly related experience, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with the Cloverleaf interface engine.
• Knowledge of HL7 2.3 and 2.5.1 standards, including variations between vendors and clients, and understanding of site-specific variations.
• Understanding of additional standard messaging structures and communication protocols.
• Knowledge of healthcare data types and data interchange formats such as HL7, XML, and XPATH.
• Experience writing TCL scripts and procedures is desired.
• Knowledge of and general understanding of database concepts and organization.
• Analytical and interpretive skills, including the ability to make recommendations to improve business and interface processes.
• Self-motivated, with strong organizational, planning, and communication skills, able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Comfortable managing timelines and working successfully against deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and coordinate development of HL7 interfaces between Varian’s ARIA Database and customer HIS databases (Epic, Cerner, LabCorp).
• Coordinate with Varian and customer project managers, IT staff, clinical staff, and vendors for interoperability and customer satisfaction.
• Ensure development and programming of quality interfaces with strong technical, organizational, and resource-management skills.
• Migrate customer interfaces from IEM to ARIA Connect product.
• Configure new interfaces using ARIA Connect and IEM products.
• Provide technical guidance to meet customer interface requirements during product implementation.
• Write interface specification documents, configure data manipulation, conduct unit testing, and support interfaces.
• Report issues to Product Engineering.
• Maintain knowledge of HL7 standards, HIS integration, and interface practices in healthcare.
• Support the Western Region of the United States and Canada.
