Candidates will verify release of information under HIPAA, mentor new staff, and ensure adherence to state and federal ROI laws. Prior medical records experience and completion of an industry course within six months of hire are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months experience in a medical record setting.
• Must pass an industry-related course and exam within six months of hire.
• Strong understanding of HIPAA privacy and security requirements.

Responsibilities

• Check electronic records for HIPAA compliance and release of information limits.
• Review documents to determine legal right to release medical records under HIPAA rules.
• Communicate questions or issues to Lead/Supervisor.
• Mentor new employees.
• Adhere to state and Federal laws for Release of Information (ROI).
