Job summary

Parkland Health invites a dedicated coding editor to join our 100% remote Coding Quality team. You will review coding quality alerts and hospital, outpatient and ambulatory billing edits to ensure accuracy before final billing.

With at least five years of acute care coding experience and appropriate certifications, you will help resolve denials and drive improvements through the revenue cycle, collaborating with billing, HIM, and clinical staff.

Qualifications

• Must have completed an approved coding program or be a Health Information Management graduate.
• Five years of coding experience in an acute care hospital environment.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may be considered.
• Certification through AHIMA (RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CCS-P) or AAPC (CPC-H/CPC) is required.

Responsibilities

• Verify CPT codes for complex procedures.
• Verify diagnosis coding accuracy for complex encounters.
• Review charge and procedure mismatches.
• Review codes with revenue integrity edits for NCD/LCD coverage.
• Review invalid codes, code conflicts and missing modifiers.
• Collaborate with billing, revenue integrity, coding operations and other revenue cycle teams.
• Combine codes for payment window encounters.
• Assist with resolution of held accounts preventing final billing.
• Validate discharge dispositions.
• Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes per ICD-9-CM/ICD-10 conventions; may train others.
