Job summary

Virginia Virtual Academy (VAVA), a Stride K12 partner school, is seeking a highly qualified online teacher to deliver course content and support students in an online environment. This role involves synchronous and asynchronous instruction, frequent coordination with families, and travel for occasional PD and school events.

A state teaching license and relevant experience are required. The position is remote with some in-person commitments.

Qualifications

• Experience working with the proposed age group.
• Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology.
• Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment.
• Experience with online learning platforms.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data, and use it to drive instructional decisions.
• Receptive to receiving coaching regularly with administrators and teacher trainers.
• Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint.
• Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
• Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs and curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging online and asynchronous/synchronous lessons.
• Support students and learning coaches with curriculum and technology.
• Monitor student progress and communicate with families.
• Collaborate with teachers to analyze data and adjust instruction.
• Travel for PD and testing as required (approx. 20% of the time).
