Job summary

Merck is seeking a Clinical Director (Principal Scientist) to lead hematology-oncology clinical development. The role covers design, execution, analysis, regulatory reporting, and publication across the full development cycle for new or marketed medicines.

The position requires an MD or MD/PhD with substantial clinical medicine experience and industry exposure. Travel about 20% and participation in external collaborations are expected.

Qualifications

• M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical medicine experience.
• Minimum 1 year in drug development or biomedical research in academia.
• Proven record of scientific scholarship and achievement.
• Strong interpersonal, written and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct clinical trials and oversee trial conduct.
• Provide medical oversight for investigational or marketed drugs.
• Summarize clinical findings to support safety/efficacy decisions and regulatory filings.
• Collaborate with internal/external teams on project development and BD assessments.
• Travel ~20% to manage studies and external collaborations.
