Job summary

PALFINGER is seeking a Field Service Technician to support the Detroit area with on-site service and diagnostics for truck-mounted cranes and lifting equipment. The role is remote in terms of location flexibility, serving customers across Detroit, MI, and surrounding regions.

You will perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and emergency repairs, communicating findings clearly to customers and documenting all work.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skill in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems; welding proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Field diagnostics and repair for articulating cranes, truck-mounted forklifts, conveyors, trucks, and trailers—independently and decisively.
• Quarterly preventive maintenance aligned to customer schedules.
• Annual DOT inspections and warranty service execution.
• Emergency and unscheduled troubleshooting during and after standard hours.
• Effective communication of issues, findings, and recommended repairs to job-site and fleet stakeholders.
• Accurate, timely documentation: estimates, work order authorization, parts ordering/recording, labor reporting, and inventory tracking.
• Strict adherence to state and federal safety regulations.
• Uphold cleanliness and organization of company vehicle, equipment, and work areas.
