Job summary

North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) seeks an itinerant early intervention specialist for infants and toddlers birth to three with hearing loss under IDEA Part C. The role requires remote-based work with up to 80% travel to Nash, Pitt, and Edgecombe counties, using web-based platforms.

Travel and internet access are essential. Primary duties include IFSP development, language sessions in natural environments, and progress reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education or related area and valid teaching license
• NC Teaching License in Education of the Hearing Impaired or qualifications to obtain license
• Salary based on experience and education of the applicant

Responsibilities

• Participate in IFSP writing with family and Child Service Coordinator; provide written annual progress reports and participate in six-month and annual reviews
• Provide developmentally appropriate language development sessions in child’s natural environment with diagnostic teaching
• Develop and implement instruction to meet each child’s needs; model techniques for family; select and assess instructional materials
• Administer and interpret language assessments; provide assessment reports to parents
• Maintain accurate service records including Medicaid billing documentation and progress notes; collaborate with other providers
