Job summary

NC State University is seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to deliver OSHA training and provide safety consultations across North Carolina. The role supports the SEOTI Education Center and Industry Expansion Solutions, with a focus on adult learning, program development, and safety outcomes.

The position is eligible for remote work within North Carolina, requires a bachelor’s degree with 3 years of safety experience, and includes travel across the region. Competitive salary and benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of workplace safety experience in general industry or construction.
• Eligible to obtain clearance upon request of the US government.
• Experience delivering training or presentations to varied audiences, in person or virtual.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple assignments.
• Willingness and ability to travel throughout North Carolina and surrounding states to deliver training.

Responsibilities

• Deliver OSHA Training Institute Education Center courses, including OSHA-authorized trainer courses, update courses, and topic-specific courses in-person and virtual.
• Ensure all OTIEC courses are delivered in accordance with OSHA Center requirements, policies, and course standards.
• Provide customized occupational safety training, workplace safety assessments, and consultations for manufacturing, construction, government and service industries.
• Communicate OSHA regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices to varied audiences.
• Develop, revise, and maintain instructional materials, presentations, online learning content, and training resources.
• Participate in program planning, customer engagement, outreach, conferences, and special projects to grow IES and SEOTI Education Center.
• Maintain current knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry trends and support organizational initiatives.
• Regular overnight travel is required to support duties.
