Job summary

Washington State Health Care Authority is seeking a Director of Government Affairs to lead the Agency’s legislative strategy and provide expert advice to executive leadership on state and federal health policy. You will evaluate bills, develop legislative proposals, oversee analysis and communications, and represent the Agency with legislators, the Governor’s Office, and partners.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to navigate government relations and health policy with legislators and agency staff.
• Deep understanding of legislative processes and health-care policy implications.
• Ability to advise executives on policy and public policy positions.
• Experience leading teams to develop legislative proposals and related analyses.

Responsibilities

• Lead legislative and government affairs strategy, priorities, and communications.
• Advise executive leadership on health policy and legislative issues.
• Evaluate state and federal legislation to identify impacts and opportunities.
• Develop health policy proposals and bill language to advance agency priorities.
• Represent the agency with legislators, governors office, congressional offices, and partners.
• Direct legislative communications, testimony, and required lobbying reports.
• Coordinate responses to federal rules with agency leadership and experts.
• Lead the Legislative Affairs and Analysis team and set priorities.
