Saint Francis Health System seeks a Health Information Coding Trainer to lead on-the-job training for coders, update curriculum, and ensure compliance with regulatory changes affecting coding and hospital reimbursement. The trainer will design curriculum with HIM management and report to the Health Information Manager.

The role requires CCS certification and 5–7 years of coding and training experience, with EPIC/Optum experience preferred and strong communication skills.

Competenze

• CCS certification required for facility coding.
• RHIA/RHIT or CRC preferred.
• 5–7 years related experience; training experience preferred.
• Experience with EPIC and Optum preferred.
• Knowledge of National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI).
• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral skills.

Mansioni

• Trains new graduate coders to code facility ancillary, ER, ambulatory surgery and inpatient accounts.
• Audits accounts coded by coding trainees.
• Evaluates progress and proficiency of coding trainee.
• Determines trainee readiness to code each level and recommends move to next level.
• Evaluates new student graduates for coding program.
• Prepares coders for CCS, CPC, CRC and/or specialty certification exams.
• Assists in development of curriculum and training programs for in person and virtual classroom settings utilizing HealthStream, MedLearn and other available educational software.
• Continual education to stay current on coding regulations and requirements.
