Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have coding knowledge or at least 1 year of experience in acute care setting with CPC or RHIT/RHIA/CCS or exam-eligible to test and credential within 6 months of hire.
• Successful completion of AHIMA or AAPC accredited Health Information Tech/Mgmnt or Coding program.
• Base credential by AHIMA with either RHIA/RHIT or by AAPC with a CPC. AHIMA CCS credential.
• Coding experience with outpatient ancillary, infusion clinic records and claim edits.
• Must maintain credentials by attending regular education sessions.
• Proven skill with computers and computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Assigns ICD and CPT codes for patients receiving ancillary services and chemotherapy infusion.
• Assigns all applicable APCs for patient accounts and abstracts all coded data into abstracting information system.
• Data entry into electronic databases for use in assessing quality of patient care, outcome analysis, and financial management.
