Job summary

CDC Foundation is seeking a Health Communications Specialist to provide strategic communications support across multiple programs within the Division of Community-Based Prevention and Care. The role emphasizes promoting community-health linkages, engaging the community health worker workforce, and applying an equity lens to communications planning.

You will develop content for various channels, coordinate with program teams, and ensure materials are culturally relevant and accessible.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in health communications, public health, or related field.
• 2–4 years of professional, related experience.
• Knowledge of behavior change messaging, marketing and communications principles.
• Commitment to health equity and addressing social determinants of health.
• Experience developing communications materials and campaigns.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent organization, attention to detail, and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, implement and evaluate communications message strategies for public health goals.
• Provide marketing and communications expertise for printed and online publications and collateral.
• Collaborate with program teams on message planning, research and delivery.
• Establish and maintain relationships with partners, contractors and stakeholders.
• Create content for digital media ensuring channel consistency and compliance with guidelines.
• Ensure activities follow established principles, methods and best practices.
• Attend internal and external meetings as requested.
• Complete required reports and deliverables within established timeframes.
• Manage project work including quality assurance and deliverable compliance.
