Job summary

Justice Action Center (JAC) seeks a Communications Director to lead the organization’s communications and storytelling efforts in support of its immigrant justice mission. You will guide external engagement, build relationships with funders and media, and collaborate with senior leaders on strategic initiatives.

The role requires 10+ years in communications, strong writing and leadership skills, and the ability to manage a dynamic, remote team across campaigns and litigation-related storytelling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or a related field.
• At least 10 years of previous experience in communications.
• At least 3 years of campaign or project management experience.
• Demonstrated experience creating engaging digital content and website copy.
• Demonstrated experience successfully pitching and placing stories and op-eds in major media publications.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead the overall vision for JAC’s communications and storytelling.
• Provide strategic guidance as part of the senior leadership team.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan with internal and external partners.
• Create campaigns to advance JAC’s narrative goals and impact.
• Determine tactics to disseminate news, publicize activities, and broaden audiences.
• Oversee media strategies, including press releases, op-eds, and talking points.
