Job summary

The South Asian American Justice Collaborative (SAAJCO) is seeking a full-time Communications Manager to lead the organization’s communications, media, digital content, and storytelling. The role will translate legal advocacy, community programs, and priority initiatives into clear messaging for community members, partners, media, donors, and other audiences.

You will work closely with the Executive Director and team, supervise the Communications Associate, and report to leadership.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of relevant experience in communications, media relations, nonprofit or advocacy communications, or a related field.
• Ability to develop and lead communications strategy across multiple audiences and platforms.
• Strong experience with media relations, including pitching stories and coordinating interviews.
• Excellent writing, editing, and messaging skills, translating complex issues into clear communications.
• Experience supervising staff, interns, or externs and providing clear direction.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead SAAJCO’s communications strategy across legal advocacy, community programming, organizational initiatives, and fundraising communications.
• Supervise and provide strategic direction to the Communications Associate, including setting priorities and ensuring timely execution.
• Oversee external communications such as press releases, newsletters, website content, and social media.
• Lead media relations, pitch stories, respond to inquiries, and coordinate interviews.
