Job summary

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Gujarati-English Phone Interpreter to work remotely in the United States. This independent contractor role involves handling on-demand interpretation across healthcare, government, insurance, and more.

Training is provided, with opportunities for advancement and support from senior staff. Must be 18+, legally eligible to work in the US, and able to establish a quiet home workspace.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Gujarati and English and skilled in the associated cultural dynamics.
• Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences to find ways of communicating with the LEP.
• Excellent listening, retention and note-taking skills to maintain a high level of accuracy during interpretation.
• Must be able to adapt to any LanguageLine technology enhancements that improve service delivery and meet client demands.

Responsibilities

• Respond to interpreting sessions promptly and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation and polite expressions.
• Maintain a professional demeanor during interpreting sessions at all times, especially in emergency situations.
• Follow client instructions to ensure expectations are met with LEP clients.
• Understand protocol and terminology across industries like Medical, Insurance, Finance and Law.
