Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is seeking a Group Rating Analyst to execute rating and underwriting for employer groups, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established methodologies. This role supports the Team Lead in production rating, quality checks, contract facilitation, and reporting.

You will collaborate with Sales and Underwriting to provide precise group pricing, respond to inquiries, and manage contracts, prospects, and concessions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in group rating, underwriting, or related analytical role within health insurance.
  • Experience supporting sales or broker relationships in underwriting or pricing capacity preferred.
  • Familiarity with self-funded and level-funded funding arrangements preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform production rating for self-funded and fully insured groups including ASO/Level-Funded/Merit.
  • Assist in quality checks for production to ensure accuracy and consistency in ratings.
  • Support development and pricing of associations/AHPs, ensuring compliance with rating methodologies.
  • Train Group Rating team members and Sales staff on rating policies and systems.
  • Process GRIT options, contracts, and related documents for enrolled and prospect groups.
  • Prepare and deliver prospect quotes using GRIT and alignment with underwriting standards.
  • Respond to inquiries from Sales with clear information on rating methodologies and group pricing.
  • Organize and maintain self-funded group contracts.
  • Track and maintain records of prospects, contracts, concessions, and reporting elements.
