Chesapeake Utilities Corporation is seeking a GIS Specialist I to support GIS data management, mapping, and analysis for our utility infrastructure.

The role involves creating and editing GIS data, integrating asset systems, and maintaining metadata, with a remote, home-based work arrangement within service territories. Candidates should have 1–3 years of GIS experience and an associate degree or equivalent, plus ArcGIS proficiency.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1–3 years of GIS experience.
• Familiar with Electric Utility infrastructure and terminology.
• Proficient in ArcGIS Enterprise and able to edit mapping system.
• Knowledge of ArcCatalog and ESRI geodatabase format.
• Proficient with standard business software (Word, Excel).
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Excellent communication and customer relation skills.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Excellent record keeping skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform GIS data creation, conversion, translation, migration, and import.
• Perform editing, quality control, data manipulation and analysis of map data.
• Integrate other asset management programs into the GIS.
• Develop QA procedures, standards, and protocols.
• Archive and store digital media and source materials.
• Maintain metadata files and update base map data for geospatial apps.
• Assist in DOT/PHMSA reporting preparation.
• Assist with additional duties as assigned.
