Job summary

Lumen is seeking a Network Inventory GIS Engineer to support the organization’s GIS network inventory. This is a remote, U.S.-based role with responsibilities in data corrections, mapping, and data migrations.

The position requires a geography or CS-related degree and 2+ years in GIS engineering or inventory. Skills with ArcGIS, QGIS, and open-source GIS tools, plus experience with 3GIS/GE Smallworld, CAD, and MS Office, are essential. Strong communication and collaboration are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geography, Computer Science, or related field.
• 2+ years of GIS engineering, analysis, or network inventory experience.
• Strong GIS concepts and tools knowledge including ESRI ArcGIS and QGIS.
• Experience with GIS analysis: spatial/network analysis and data visualization.
• Familiarity with OSP network inventory systems (3GIS, GE Smallworld, OSPI).
• Familiarity with CAD software.
• Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic network inventory data corrections, analysis, and redlining.
• Close tickets for network inventory related issues (Tier 1).
• Contribute to network inventory data mapping and migrations.
• Contribute to network inventory design and user stories development.
• Test network inventory systems and scripts; develop processes.
• Manage small projects: track progress, resolve issues, adjust plans.
• Contribute to release notes and features documentation.
• Handle network inventory administration, user maintenance.
• Support training and creation of job aids for network inventory.
• Perform geospatial analysis and generate map files (KMZ, Shape).
• Generate map files and support data distribution.
