Job summary

The City of Renton is seeking a skilled GIS professional to join Public Works as GIS Analyst 1-3, supporting GIS and Asset Management objectives. Hybrid work arrangement with potential telework up to 2 days; residence within Washington is expected to respond to workplace requirements.

Qualifications

• GIS Analyst 1 requires a Bachelor's degree in GIS or related field and 2 years GIS experience or 6 years total education/experience.
• Analyst 2/3 require similar prerequisites with increasing experience requirements.
• Background check and CJIS/ fingerprint-based checks are required.

Responsibilities

• Edit and update spatial and tabular GIS data and metadata.
• Create new GIS data through digitization, conversion, extraction, and georeferencing.
• Complete GIS data requests in support of projects, regional partnerships, and vendors.
• Support field data collection efforts.
• Create print and digital maps applying cartographic techniques for end-user needs.
• Create online (interactive) maps for presentation and analysis.
• Perform analysis of spatial and tabular data to support projects and business needs.
• Research and acquire external spatial and non-spatial data as required.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Minimum 2 years GIS experience using GIS software to produce maps, perform spatial analysis, and generate databases

Or minimum 6 years relevant education and experience
