Job summary

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation is seeking a GIS Specialist I to coordinate, prepare, and process information for the Geographic Information System (GIS) within our hybrid, service-territory role. You will handle data creation, editing, and integration of asset information for digital maps and reports.

This role requires an Associate’s degree and 1–3 years of GIS experience, familiarity with Electric Utility infrastructure, and knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise/ArcCatalog.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One to three years of prior work experience in a similar role.
• Familiar with Electric Utility infrastructure and terminology.
• Knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise and able to perform edits and updates to mapping system.
• Knowledge of ArcCatalog and ESRI geodatabase format.
• Proficient with standard business software (Word, Excel, Windows).
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment.
• Good record keeping skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform creation, conversion, translation, migration, and import of GIS data from various sources.
• Perform editing, quality control, data manipulation and analysis functions to digital map data.
• Integrate other system asset management programs into the GIS.
• Develop quality assurance procedures, standards, and protocols.
• Ensure digital media and source materials are archived and stored.
• Contribute to metadata files creation and maintenance.
• Communicate production concerns to supervisor.
• Process, update and correct digital base map data for geospatial applications.
• Apply advanced GIS principles in all efforts.
• Adhere to QC protocols as directed.
• Assist in system preparation, project layout and design activities.
• Maintain all related data and map products.
• Assist in distribution system operations and annual DOT/PHMSA reports.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.
