Job summary

Atrius Health, part of the Optum family, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to support Gastroenterology patients in Boston, MA. This role offers a remote work option within Massachusetts, with on-site location at 133 Brookline Avenue.

You will manage patient care using the nursing process, coordinate with GI physicians and APCs, and contribute to care transitions while maintaining high standards of safety and service.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a State-approved school of nursing.
• Current, unrestricted license to practice professional nursing in Massachusetts.
• Up to date with current standard of nursing care in Gastroenterology.
• 5+ years of experience in Gastroenterology.
• Electronic medical record (EMR) experience and/or aptitude to master the EMR based on other technology experience.

Responsibilities

• Build therapeutic and supportive relationships with patients and families, providing education and managing care transitions.
• Assess patient symptoms and concerns received through telephone calls, patient portal messages, secure chat, and referrals.
• Prioritize patient needs based on clinical urgency and established protocols.
• Escalate complex or urgent clinical issues to GI physicians or Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs).
• Review and respond to patient inquiries regarding GI conditions, medications, test results, and treatment plans.
• Provide clinical guidance within nursing scope of practice.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, mentor nursing staff, and uphold high standards of patient service and safety.
• Manage electronic medical record (EMR) in-basket workflows.
