Job summary

XTS is seeking a Web Application Developer to work remotely on public-facing geospatial applications for The National Map. The role focuses on building responsive interfaces, improving geospatial data presentation, and contributing to scripted processing pipelines.

You will document technical decisions and development workflows as part of a collaborative team. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience with JavaScript, React, Node.js, and modern web tools, plus familiarity with geospatial

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience developing, enhancing, and maintaining responsive, user-focused web applications and interfaces using JavaScript, React, and modern JavaScript libraries.
• Ability to document development workflows and technical decisions through written documentation, code comments, assignment tickets, or similar methods.
• Strong collaboration and initiative with the ability to work effectively as part of a team, take ownership of assigned work, and proactively identify opportunities to improve applications and development processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain public-facing web applications for geospatial data.
• Improve UI/UX and accessibility of maps and geospatial interfaces.
• Document workflows, decisions, and code changes in tickets and comments.
• Collaborate with team to implement scalable web solutions and cloud integrations.
