Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Inc. seeks a Genomic Variant Scientist to support the Variant IQ team in clinical operations and product development. The role covers pre-curation of genes/variants and real-time curation for clinical diagnostics using exome sequencing, targeted panels, and Sanger methods in a clinical lab.

The position is remote for the US, with working hours 8a-5p, Sunday–Thursday. A Bachelor’s degree and 0-1 year of experience are required; collaboration across R&D and Operations is key

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Doctorate or Master’s preferred.
• 0-1 years experience.
• Technically proficient in a broad range of skills; able to resolve minor difficulties without intervention.

Responsibilities

• Accurately performs pathogenicity assessments of DNA variants and curation/classification of genes to disease associations.
• Generate clinical report text for high complexity genetic tests in collaboration with genetic directors and counselors.
• Help define and hone variant curation strategies, interpretation, and reporting processes.
• Develop cross-functional relationships within R&D and Operations teams.
• Support group projects, data interpretation for publications/conferences, and process improvement.
• Perform quality control testing and maintain quality management programs.
