Job summary

Scale is seeking a SWE Fellow for the Human Frontier Collective (US) program. This fully remote, independent contractor opportunity lasts six months, with a potential extension. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

The Fellow will apply advanced AI research methods, evaluate models, and contribute to collaborative projects across AI labs and platforms within Scale’s network.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering or related technical experience, or equivalent domain expertise through academic work (e.g. PhD, postdoctoral research, or faculty experience).
• Strong collaboration and interdisciplinary work across teams and labs.
• Interest in applied AI research and responsible AI development.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on high-impact projects with partnered AI labs and platforms; design complex, domain-specific problems and datasets to evaluate AI models.
• Provide expert insights to improve model accuracy, reasoning, and performance.
• Engage with a global, interdisciplinary network to advance frontier AI across domains.
