Job summary

Scale is seeking a flexible HFC Fellow for a fully remote 1099 contractor role in the United States, approximately six months with extension potential. You will design, evaluate, and interpret advanced generative AI systems and collaborate with leading AI labs and platforms.

Ideal candidates hold a PhD or postdoctoral degree in CS/Computer Engineering and bring 1–3+ years as an ML Engineer or Data Scientist, with strong Python and ML framework skills (PyTorch, TensorFlow).

Qualifications

• PhD or postdoctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 1-3+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or Data Scientist.
• Strong proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and MLOps tools (Docker, Langchain) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, review, and optimize PyTorch models for high-impact ML projects.
• Evaluate ML code and AI-generated implementations for efficiency and correctness.
• Advise on GPU optimization, scaling, and trade-offs.
• Engage with a global, interdisciplinary AI research network.
