Job summary

GovExec's Professional Development Academy seeks a General Manager to lead the training and professional development business for government and public-sector leaders. You will own strategy, growth, and partnerships, reporting to the COO and collaborating across GovExec brands.

You will oversee P&L, program design, revenue growth, and a high-performing team, expanding offerings with associations, agencies, and academic partners in a hybrid/remote work setup.

Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience running a business unit or brand with P&L responsibility.
• Proven success growing revenue through partnerships with public-sector or related entities.
• Experience in leadership development and professional education fields.
• Strong knowledge of government or public-sector markets and leaders.
• Proven ability to build and lead teams and manage senior stakeholder relationships.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience working with federal/state/local government or associations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead PDA as a full P&L owner, setting strategy, operations, and team direction.
• Grow revenue by identifying, developing, and closing partnerships with associations, agencies, and partners.
• Expand the program portfolio with new offerings, formats, and markets.
• Build and steward relationships with senior partners and clients as the senior brand representative.
• Develop the team with clear goals and a collaborative culture.
• Oversee program design and delivery quality to meet public-sector needs.
• Own annual budget, forecast performance, and report results to leadership.
• Collaborate across GovExec brands to align PDA with company strategy and resources.
• Represent PDA externally at industry events and with public-sector leaders.
