Job summary

E Source is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer, AI/ML to embed directly with utility clients and deliver production-grade GenAI/ML solutions in the client environment. You’ll own engagements end-to-end from discovery through deployment, collaborating with our AI, data, and software teams to ship impactful AI systems that meet client outcomes.

You’ll be measured on delivering usable systems within weeks, designing task-specific evaluations, and ensuring safety, privacy, and governance aligned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in CS/engineering/stats or related field.
• Five+ years engineering experience shipping GenAI/ML to production.
• Proficiency in Python and at least one of TypeScript/Scala/Java.
• Experience building evaluation frameworks for LLM/ML systems.
• Cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP); AWS + Databricks preferred.

Responsibilities

• Embed with utility clients to deploy GenAI/ML systems.
• Own the technical architecture of each engagement.
• Run technical discovery and avoid unnecessary solutions.
• Deliver working systems within weeks and production-harden over time.
• Design evaluation criteria with client SMEs.
• Build retrieval and grounding systems over client data.
• Integrate with client data platforms and legacy systems.
• Instrument systems to measure accuracy, latency, cost, and drift.
• Develop operator-facing application layers for client use.
• Set realistic executive expectations.
• Manage scope and risk early.
• Contribute reusable accelerators and reference architectures.
• Apply AI safety, privacy, governance controls.
