Job summary

UL, LLC is seeking a Functional Safety Expert to lead safety lifecycle activities across vehicle programs, including electrical/electronic systems, hardware, and software safety development. The role covers ISO 26262, ISO 21448 (SOTIF), UL 4600, and related standards, with travel to client sites as needed.

You will craft safety cases, perform hazard analyses, and guide safety requirements, architectural integrity, and diagnostic concepts for L2–L4 automated systems.

Qualifications

M.S. or B.S. in Electrical, Automotive, or related field.
5+ years in automotive functional safety.

Responsibilities

Lead development and review of functional safety work products compliant with ISO 26262 and related standards.
Develop safety arguments and evidence-based safety cases for hardware and software.
Create hazard and risk analyses and safety concepts for vehicle systems.
Define and decompose safety requirements aligned with architectures and diagnostic concepts.
Lead safety analyses (FMEA, FMEDA, DFA, FTA, STPA) across electronic hardware and battery systems.
Perform verification reviews and technical assessments ensuring architectural integrity.
