Job summary

The University of Washington Information School is seeking a Web Application Developer to design, build, and maintain full‑stack web applications and Drupal-based public sites in support of school needs.

Reporting to the Web Development Technical Manager, you will implement secure, scalable solutions, collaborate on cloud infrastructure, and craft technical docs while exploring AI tools to accelerate development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in informatics, computer science, MIS, or related field.
  • 2 years of web application development experience with PHP, JavaScript, or an OO language.
  • Equivalent education/experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain full‑stack web applications and integrations with iSchool systems and third‑party platforms.
  • Develop and evolve public‑facing pages and UI in Drupal for marketing and outreach.
  • Architect and manage database schemas, environments, and CI/CD pipelines with Docker and GitHub Actions.
  • Champion code quality through reviews, refactoring, and automated tests.
  • Ensure security, encryption, and access management; monitor performance and uptime.
  • Collaborate on deployment, scalability, and cloud infrastructure; disaster recovery planning.
  • Produce clear technical documentation from project inception through completion.
  • Evaluate LLMs and generative AI to accelerate development and improve quality.
