Job summary

Roo is seeking a motivated Full Stack Engineer (Software Engineer II) to join our engineering team. In this mid-level role you’ll design, build, and maintain features powering our veterinary marketplace, collaborating with product, design, data, and engineering to deliver scalable solutions.

This role is remote-first with occasional travel to San Francisco for cross-functional events. You’ll own features end-to-end, mentor juniors, contribute to architecture, and advance observability, CI/CD,

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of professional Software Engineer experience with TS/JS.
• Mobile development experience (React Native or similar).
• Experience with Node, Express, React, AWS, and relational databases.
• Proficient at writing complex and efficient SQL queries.
• Experience with a growing team and early-stage startup preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; CS degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product, design, data, and engineering to deliver robust solutions.
• Design, develop, and maintain features across the stack with scalable architecture.
• Write clean, well-documented code for React Native apps and backend services.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical design discussions.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in code reviews.
• Own testing lifecycle with unit tests (Jest) and end-to-end tests (Cypress).
• Improve observability and resolve production issues; ensure reliability.
• Partner with DevOps for CI/CD and performant deployments.
• Stay current with industry trends and drive tooling/process improvements.
