Job summary

Mutual of Omaha is seeking a Full Stack Engineer in the Life area to drive technical excellence with robust integrations and modernized systems. You will design, develop, test, and maintain backend-heavy applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Mulesoft, while building scalable APIs for reliable operations.

The role supports remote work for candidates in the United States or Puerto Rico, with periodic in-person meetings for quarterly planning and trainings as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of full-stack development experience with focus on backend technologies.
• Proficiency in Mulesoft, Java, Spring Boot, and software engineering patterns.
• Knowledge of COBOL-related tech (JCL, DB2, CICS) and API integration.

Responsibilities

• Support Cobol administration systems and modernize to modern tech.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend-heavy applications.
• Build and enhance APIs for seamless system integration with high availability.
• Create and maintain automated tests and ensure code quality.
• Drive modernization initiatives including cloud-first development and containerization.
