Job summary

Mutual of Omaha is seeking a remote Full Stack Engineer for the Life area to drive technical excellence, modernize systems, and build scalable, reliable applications. The role emphasizes backend strength with Java/Spring Boot and Mulesoft, plus API-driven integration.

You will design, test, and maintain backend-heavy applications, apply modern engineering patterns, and participate in cloud-first and containerized initiatives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-stack development experience with backend focus.
• Proficiency in Mulesoft, Java and Spring Boot.
• Knowledge of COBOL-related tech: JCL, DB2, CICS.
• Strong API integration and RESTful service experience.
• Remote work with reliable US internet access.

Responsibilities

• Modernize Cobol-admin systems and migrate to modern tech.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend-heavy apps with Java, Mulesoft, Spring Boot.
• Build and enhance APIs for system integration with high availability.
• Apply clean code practices, version control, and automated tests.
• Drive cloud-first development and containerization initiatives.
