Job summary

Help Scout is seeking an engineer to build AI-powered experiences used by customers every day. This role emphasizes a frontend center of gravity with strong JavaScript/TypeScript and React skills, while owning full-stack delivery from retrieval to UI.

You’ll work on AI features that are fast, trustworthy, and genuinely useful in production, collaborating across engineers, PMs, and designers. You’ll ship end-to-end AI workflows, guardrails, and a polished interface, using AWS and a suite of AI

Qualifications

• Strong JavaScript/TypeScript and React experience with real front-end craft.
• Experience with LLMs, retrieval (RAG), embeddings, and agentic/tool-calling patterns.
• Comfort with building full-stack features and end-to-end ownership.
• Familiarity with evaluating AI features and implementing guardrails.
• Fluency with AI coding tools and a fast, judgment-based approach.
• Customer-focused mindset with ability to use feedback to shape products.
• Experience owning full development lifecycle including deployment, monitoring, and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Ship customer-facing AI features across the full stack, including LLM-backed flows and UI.
• Build and integrate retrieval, embeddings, and agentic tooling into the product.
• Sweat the front-end craft: responsiveness, accessibility, and polish.
• Stay close to customers: participate in calls, use signal for design decisions.
• Own outcomes with measurable metrics and iterate after launch.
• Co-author product strategy and help shape the engineering approach.
