Job summary

Reddit, Inc. is seeking a Front End Software Engineer for the media player to deliver a seamless video and audio experience on the web.

You will focus on the media web player and the APIs that power it, collaborating across product, design and engineering to ship features with low-latency playback and rich creator tools. This role offers a fully remote arrangement within the United States and competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages; Go, Python, Rust, Ruby.
• Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, gRPC, Thrift basics; ability to design and implement maintainable APIs.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks and deliver on schedule.
• Excellent communication skills for remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering to build new features for the media web experience.
• Contribute to the full development lifecycle: design, develop, test, experiment, and launch.
• Design and implement end-to-end fullstack solutions for the media player frontend (React, TS) and backend APIs (Go, Python).
• Move fast while maintaining quality and avoiding bugs.
• Review code and design docs; provide feedback on specs and mocks.
• Work with client/platform engineers to improve media performance globally.
• Mentor junior engineers and share best practices.
