Job summary

OpenTrain AI is seeking a skilled mechanical designer to work remotely on AI-driven projects. You will create and update detailed FreeCAD models, develop assemblies, and prepare drawings for design review and manufacturing.

Your expertise in parametric CAD and GD&T will help verify designs and ensure manufacturability while you contribute to cutting-edge AI tooling. This flexible, contractor role offers 15 hours per week, paid per task, with full remote work across the United States.

Qualifications

• Two or more years in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Advanced FreeCAD or equivalent parametric CAD experience.
• Mechanical design skills including GD&T, DFM, technical drawings, manufacturing documentation and model verification, with fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Create and update detailed parametric FreeCAD models for mechanical design tasks.
• Develop mechanical assemblies and review how components fit and work together.
• Prepare technical drawings and engineering documentation for design review, manufacturing and assembly.
• Review CAD models and drawings, identify issues, explain findings and help resolve problems.
