Job summary

Stripe is seeking an experienced fraud analyst to join the Risk Operations team. The role focuses on writing and maintaining fraud rulesets to prevent transaction fraud, performing advanced data analysis with SQL, and collaborating with product, engineering, and data science teams to implement scalable risk controls.

The right candidate will have 5+ years in fraud analytics, strong SQL, and experience in e-commerce/payments or fintech.

Qualifications

• Five years of advanced data analysis and managing transaction fraud rulesets.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL.
• Experience collaborating with modeling, data science, and intelligence stakeholders to implement automatic and scaled controls.
• Experience creating data visualizations and dashboards and presenting findings to technical and non-technical audiences including senior leadership.
• Ability to drive execution on cross-functional projects in a heavily matrixed environment.
• Creativity, team-focused mentality, and effective problem-solving skills.
• Desire to question status quo and think user-first with pragmatic solutions.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain fraud rulesets to prevent transaction-level fraud losses.
• Conduct advanced data analysis of structured and unstructured data to identify emerging fraud attacks.
• Collaborate with product, risk, and operations teams to mitigate fraud exposure.
• Investigate, perform root-cause analysis, and deploy remediations to prevent future fraud.
• Investigate anomalous clusters of transactions and take action with minimal user impact.
• Respond to incidents involving complex fraud schemes to mitigate exposure.
• Create analytics to automate manual processes and improve efficiency.
• Create dashboards and queries for visibility into impact, performance, and risk.
