Job summary

Abnormal AI is seeking a Finance Manager, R&D to join the FP&A team and support the R&D organization with strategic financial insights. This hands-on role builds financial models, collaborates with leadership, and champions data-driven decision-making in a remote-first AI-forward environment.

You will partner with Finance, HR, Systems, and other teams to model scenarios, improve forecasting, and scale finance workflows, while delivering executive-ready narratives and insights.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of FP&A or corporate finance or management consulting experience in a high-growth environment.
• Proven ability to operate independently in ambiguous, evolving problem spaces.
• Strong financial acumen across budgeting, forecasting, headcount planning, and exec reporting.
• Experience partnering with senior leaders and influencing decisions through data-driven insights.
• Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Advanced modeling and analytical skills (Excel or Google Sheets required).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with senior audiences.
• Comfort with a remote-first environment and async communication.
• Interest or experience applying AI or automation to finance workflows.

Responsibilities

• Act as a finance business partner to R&D and Finance leaders, supporting budgeting, forecasting, headcount planning, and monthly/quarterly close deliverables.
• Partner cross-functionally to understand strategic priorities and model scenarios, evaluate trade-offs, and inform decisions.
• Translate complex financial data into clear narratives for senior stakeholders.
• Build, maintain, and iterate dashboards and metrics with focus on automation and data integrity.
• Support annual and quarterly planning cycles with Finance, HR, Systems, and other partners.
• Improve forecasting accuracy and financial visibility for supported teams.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve reporting, and scale workflows.
• Champion AI-enabled and automated finance solutions to improve speed and clarity.
• Refine analyses to meet evolving business needs with feedback iterations.
• Foster transparency and operational excellence in Finance partnerships.
• Analyze large data sets from data warehouse to report and forecast infrastructure costs and guide cost optimization.
